Run of Events


Special Rules

With participation in the race all competitors accept these special rules.

Article 1. Organization
The Tour de Berlin is organized by Berliner Radsport Verband according to the regulations
of the International Cycling Union. It is to be held from 17 May 2012 to 20 May 2012.

Article 2. Type of Event
The event is open to athletes of the “Under 23” category. It is entered in the
UCI Europe calendar and is registered as a class 2.2 event. In conformity with the
UCI rules, points are awarded as follows for the UCI “Under 23” ranking.
Points : Stage - 8, 5, 2
Yellow shirt - 4
Final placings - 40, 30, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 3

Article 3. Participation
As per article 2.1.005 of the UCI regulations, the event is open to the following teams:
- UCI professional continental teams of the country
- UCI continental teams
- National teams
- Regional and club teams
- Mixed teams
As per article 2.2.003 of the UCI regulations, teams must be formed of a minimum of four riders and a maximum of six riders.


Article 4. Race Headquarters
At the start, the race headquarters shall be open starting 17 May 2012 at 8.00 o’clock and
located at the following address: Comfort Hotel Lichtenberg, Rhinstraße 159, 10351 Berlin.

Team representatives are requested to confirm their starters and collect their race numbers
at the race headquarters from 8.00 o’clock to 9.00 o’clock on the 17 May 2012.


The team managers’ meeting, organized with article 1.2.087 of the UCI regulations, in the
presence of the Members of the Commissaires’ Panel, is scheduled for 9.30 o’clock
at Comfort Hotel Lichtenberg.

Article 5. Radio-Tour
Race information will be broadcast on the following frequency: 148.33

Article 6. Neutral technical support
The neutral support is supplied by three automobiles.

Article 7. Race incidents occurring in the last three kilometer
The UCI Reglement governs the treatment of all incidents taking place in the final stretch.

Article 8. Finishing time limits
Riders over twelve minutes behind the main bunch will be removed by the race police
immediately.
The time limit may, in exceptional circumstances, be extended by the Commissaires’ Panel
in agreement with the organizer according to the article 2.6.032.

Article 9. Individual time trial
The start is in reverse order of the single score in total.
Start intervals: One minute, for the last ten riders two minutes. The time is taken at 1/100 second.
In case of equivalence of time, the rider who first presented the time is better positioned.
For the end result of the stage the time will be rounded to a whole second.
Every team director can accompany the riders of his team, if his vehicle is licensed and labelled for this tour.

Article 10. Awards ceremony
In accordance with article 1.2.112 of the UCI rules, the following riders must attend the
official awards ceremony:
- the first three of the stage
- the leader of the following secondary classifications: yellow, green, red and withe jerseys

The riders will present themselves at the podium directly after announcement of the results. Moreover, at the general finish of the event, the following riders must also present
themselves at the final awards ceremony:
- the first three of the event
- the winners of the following secondary classifications: yellow, green, red and withe jerseys
- the first three of the team

Article 11. Antidoping
The UCI antidoping regulations are entirely applicable to the event.
A national antidoping regulations does not exist.
The venues of the Antidoping controls are announced in the round-book.

Article 12. Prizes
A grand total of (17.013,00 Euro) will be awarded in prize money at the event.

Article 13. Penalties
The UCI penalty catalogue is the only one applicable.

Article 14. Classifications - Time bonuses - Postings
The following classification(s) will be issued:

General Individual Classification - Yellow Jersey
For the individual classification the stage times of each rider are added, including penalties
and “bonifications”. The rider with the shortest total time is the best.
In case of the equality in total times:
- the individual time trial stage brakes the tie (tenths and the hundredths of the second will decide),
- and if these are the same, then the sum of places on each stage will decide.
- Finally, if still is the tie, better placing on the last stage run breaks the tie..

Sprint Classification
The points from the point sprints and time sprints are added. The rider with the highest sum
of points wears the green jersey.
In case of equal points, the tie is broken as follows:
- first decides the total number of stage wins,
- if there is still ex aequo, decides the highest number of intermediate sprints wins,
- finally, if there is still a tie, overall individual classification by time breaks the tie.
In case the leader wears another leaders jersey at the same time, the rider placed in second
position wears the green jersey.

Most Active Rider
After each stage (except for time trial) the most active rider will be awarded with the red jersey. The decision will be made by the Panel of Commissaires according to the activities of each individual rider during each stage. After each stage (except for time trial), 3, 2, and 1 activity point(s) for the general classification of the red jersey are awarded. The rider with most activity points after all stages wins the classification “Most Active Rider”.

Best Young Talent
The indication of the best young talent results from the general individual classification.
For this classification only riders born in 1993 will be considered. The leader wears the white jersey.
If this rider is at the same time the holder of the yellow jersey, the second rider in this classification wears the white jersey.

Team Classification for the Day
The The sum of times, without any bonuses, of three best riders of each team will be considered for the purpose of this classification.
In case of equality of times of teams:
- the teams are separated by the sum of places acquired by their three best riders on the stage.
- If there is still a tie - placing of the best rider of the team on this stage is decisive.

General Team Classification
For The team general classification result from the sum of times taken into consideration towards team classification for the day. No jerseys will be handed out for the purpose of this classification.
In case of a draw, the teams are separated as follows:
- by higher number of first places in daily team classification;
- by higher number of second places in daily team classification;
- etc.
- In the last resort, best position of teams’ best riders in decisive.

The order of the jersey: yellow, green, red, white.

Article 15. Time bonuses
Time credits have no influence on the position in one stage.

Article 16. Postings
Intermediate spurts (SW): Position 1 to 3 - 3, 2,1 points and 3, 2, 1 seconds

3. stage 3 spurts at km 24,6 / 61,5 and 98,4
4. stage 3 spurts at km 12,7 / 50,8 and 88,9
5. stage 2 spurts at km 57,6 and 112,3


Attention: Each competitor has to run with the transponder that corresponds to his number (see number at the bottom of the transponder).i
